it was because andrea's hirata last book, 'maryamah karpov'..
after reading that book, instantly i shamed myself because earlier i said 'i like andrea's work, especially edensor'.. okay, 'edensor' is still beautiful for me.. and 'laskar pelangi'+'sang pemimpi' also have their 'magic'.. but not for 'maryamah karpov'
*no offerse for andrea's fans..*
some reasons of dissapointment:
the title 'maryamah karpov' did not have any significant meaning on that book.. only 'mimpi2 lintang' had quite important meaning..
*for me, "it was a person who want to make a 'brilliant&unusual' title for his book.. the title is made to make an impression that the the story of that book will be beautiful.. it's nonesense..*
then.. the plot is boring.. yup, in this book andrea showed his hometown, the neighbourhood, the way of live, and etc.. sometimes there were too many descriptions for people in his neighbourhood.. that if we skip those parts, it will not bother the whole strory.. in fact, those 'descriptions' repeated often when the story continued..
*for me, it's more likely the descriptions in oscar wilde 'the picture of dorian gray'.. boring*
he did not give the reader a significant moral lesson to the reader like his previous books.. i know there are still moral lessons like, 'you can make anything if you study and get the knowledge from it' or 'do not give up even many people did not believe in you'
*BUT AGAIN.. for me those moral lesson were FLAT.. NOT new.. and many people already got that from other places..*
okay.. i think i have to stop..
hmm.. maybe i'm too sarcastic in this review.. maybe i'm over expected with andrea..
*sigh*
